Lesson Title - Book of the Week

Essential Reading Element - Phonemic awareness, vocabulary.

Objective(s) - Students will be exposed to new books.

Procedure - In my class every week a student is the Star of the Week. They bring in a poster to share about themselves. They will also bring in a book to share and donate to the class library. The book will be featured as the book of the week. The first Star of the Week will share their poster about themselves and share their book on the second week of school. Students can tell the class why they like the book. It will then be read and added to the class library. The next week another student will be the star of the week and bring in a book for their week to share and add to the library. After everyone has a turn students can vote on their favorite book.

Implementation - So far we have added 3 books to our library. Students are excited about having "their" book added to the library.
