Lesson Title - Creating a Story Mobile in a First Grade Classroom

Essential Reading Element - Comprehension
Objective(s) - Students will demonstrate Story Comprehension through art and sequence on a paper towel tube mobile.
Materials -
- Construction paper shapes (squares, rectangles, circles, triangles)
- white drawing paper
- yarn
- cardboard paper towel tube
- scissors
- glue
- crayons or markers
Procedure -
- Draw pictures or events from your story on the white paper.

Color the pictures.

Mount each one on a construction-paper shape.

Punch a hole at the top of each shape.

Tie a piece of yarn to each one.

Make four slits in the cardboard tube as illustrated.

Force the yarn through the slit and secure it with a knot.

Hang your mobile by another piece of yarn, tied at the center.
