Lesson Title – Tongue twister tales

Contributor – Debbie Grant

Grade Level –K - 3

Essential Reading Element - Phonics

Objective(s) – To create cooperative – oral stories using the same initial consonant sounds.

Procedure – As a large group work together to create a tongue twister tale. Each child adds 1 word to the tale. Each word needs to begin with the same sound. The adult facilitator begins the tale with a proper name. Ex. – Ann.

Child 1 may add - ate

Child 2 may add – apples

Child 3 may add – all

Child 4 may add – around

Child 5 may add – the arctic

Connecting words –to, the, etc. can be added.

Implementation - We had a lot of fun with this. Students had a great time coming up with tongue twisters. Then I asked each student to go home and make up a tongue twister to bring back and share with the class.
