Lesson Title – Three Little Pigs
Contributor – Anne Draper
Grade Level - Primary
Essential Reading Element - Picture Books and Parental Involvement
Objective(s) – Involve parents in the introduction of various versions of The Three Little Pigs to the children.
Procedure - Introduce different versions of the three little pigs - True Story of the Three Little Pigs, Paul Galdone’s version, James Marshall’s version, The Three Little Javelinas, and The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. Send home copies of the books to allow parents to share the books with their children.
Have the children write and act out their own version of The Three Little Pigs and invite the parents for the performance.
Implementation - Implementation will take place when the folk and fairy tale unit is introduced. This lesson was such fun for all involved. The children especially enjoyed acting out their version of the story for all the parents.
