Lesson Title - Sorting in the Classroom Library

Grade Level -  kindergarten

 

Essential Reading Element -   Classroom Libraries and the five Elements of Reading

 

Objective(s) -  to get my students to sort books into different genres.  To have my students take ownership of making and organinzing our classroom library.

 

Procedure -  We will pass out 6-7 books per student.  We will discuss the different genres.  At the beginning of the year we will sort in two genres.  Each child will sort their books into one of two genres.

 

Implementation -  The first weeks of school.
